About Echolight
Echolight Farm began in 2014 with a vision of commitment to quality and animal welfare. We believe that animals should be cared for humanely and given the best life we can provide, while they generously supply us and our community with wholesome nutrition. We hate buying animal products from the store because we never know what happened to the animals that produced it before it got to us! Happy, healthy animals make tasty, healthy food!
We are currently located on a small 2 1/2 acre patch in Rapid River, MI. We hope to one day buy a true farm with more acreage, pasture and barns; but we find creative ways to make do with what we have to work with! We raise ADGA American Alpine dairy goats, Ancona ducks, American geese, Calico Bantam Cochin chickens, and breed/show/compete with our Australian Shepherd dogs (for those interested, visit our Aussie website). Our focus and our passion is to strive for quality, not quantity, in every aspect of our animal husbandry programs. Some of our programs are still in the beginning stages yet, but we try to be very open and honest about what our livestock and our dogs can and cannot offer.
Our Herdshare Program has been growing steadily since 2015. We work hard to provide THE BEST goat milk available in the Upper Peninsula! We enjoy educating the public as well as aspiring homesteaders about goats, local whole foods, and agriculture in general so you may well see us out and about in the community now and then throughout the year. There is always more to know, room to grow, and we try to take on an attitude of lifelong learning!
Visitors are welcome and encouraged, so if you plan to be in the neighborhood let us know and we can set up a time for you to stop by!
